About Course

The Intermediate Language Course builds on the basics, helping learners read longer passages and begin to interpret Scripture with better fluency and understanding.

What Will You Learn?

  • By the end of this course, learners should be able to:
  • Read and comprehend longer passages of Scripture.
  • Expand their vocabulary through Biblical texts.
  • Develop better fluency and understanding of key Bible passages.
  • Apply basic grammar principles in reading and writing.
  • Engage meaningfully in group discussions and apply Scripture to daily life.

Course Content

Module 1: Review and Foundation Strengthening
• Recap of foundational reading skills • Bible Overview: Understanding the structure of Psalms, Proverbs, and the Gospels • Activities: o Short paragraph reading from Psalm 1 and discussion o Vocabulary highlights: blessed, counsel, meditate

Module 2: Paragraph Reading and Comprehension
Focus: Understanding and interpreting Scripture paragraphs • Lessons Include: o Reading comprehension techniques o Identifying main ideas and supporting details o Contextual vocabulary expansion • Texts for Practice: o Psalms 23, Proverbs 3:1–6, Matthew 5:1–12 (Beatitudes) • Activities: o Comprehension Q&A o Summarizing in one’s own words

Module 3: Vocabulary Development from Scripture
Focus: Thematic word study and contextual understanding • Themes: Faith, Wisdom, Grace, Forgiveness • Activities: o Create word maps (word + definition + use in Scripture) o Group vocabulary games based on Scripture o Texts: Ephesians 2:8–10, Proverbs 4:5–7, Luke 15 (Parable of the Prodigal Son)

Module 4: Basic Grammar and Writing
Focus: Improving sentence structure and expression • Grammar Topics: o Subject-verb agreement o Tenses (past, present, future) o Sentence formation • Activities: o Rewriting Scripture verses in different tenses o Writing personal reflections or prayers o Editing simple paragraphs for grammar

Module 5: Reading Psalms, Proverbs, and the Gospels
Focus: Reading fluently and extracting meaning from poetic and narrative forms • Texts: o Psalm 91, Proverbs 31:10–31, John 3, Luke 10 • Activities: o Group reading aloud o Identifying literary devices (parallelism, repetition) o Faith-based journaling prompts

Module 6: Application and Group Discussion
Focus: Spiritual reflection and personal application • Lessons Include: o Applying biblical principles to everyday scenarios o Sharing insights from Scripture reading • Final Project: o Write and present a faith-based story or testimony incorporating vocabulary and Scripture • Assessment: o Oral reading, written summary, vocabulary quiz, group participation
